U.S. stocks higher at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average up 2.83% By Investing.com

Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NYSE, the rose 2.83%, while the index climbed 2.60%, and the index climbed 2.23%.

The best performers of the session on the were JPMorgan Chase & Co (NYSE:), which rose 5.49% or 5.69 points to trade at 109.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:) added 5.35% or 1.71 points to end at 33.65 and 3M Company (NYSE:) was up 4.84% or 5.27 points to 114.22 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Home Depot Inc (NYSE:), which rose 0.81% or 2.27 points to trade at 282.79 at the close. Walmart Inc (NYSE:) added 0.83% or 1.09 points to end at 132.26 and Nike Inc (NYSE:) was up 1.20% or 1.06 points to 89.57.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Domino’s Pizza Inc (NYSE:) which rose 10.48% to 333.38, Warner Bros Discovery Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 7.20% to settle at 12.50 and KeyCorp (NYSE:) which gained 7.09% to close at 16.70.

The worst performers were Etsy Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 9.27% to 96.32 in late trade, Match Group Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 4.98% to settle at 44.43 and Carnival Corporation (NYSE:) which was down 3.01% to 7.09 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Nutex Health Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 72.40% to 0.96, Fednat Holding Co (NASDAQ:) which was up 56.48% to settle at 0.35 and Digital Brands Group Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 44.93% to close at 0.11.

The worst performers were Relmada Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 79.57% to 6.47 in late trade, Otonomy Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 53.46% to settle at 0.12 and mCloud Technologies Corp (NASDAQ:) which was down 36.77% to 1.41 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 2286 to 862 and 103 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2636 rose and 1172 declined, while 173 ended unchanged.

Shares in Match Group Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to 3-years lows; falling 4.98% or 2.33 to 44.43. Shares in Relmada Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to 3-years lows; losing 79.57% or 25.22 to 6.47. Shares in Otonomy Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; losing 53.46% or 0.14 to 0.12.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 4.86% to 31.94.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.31% or 5.15 to $1,672.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.25% or 1.96 to hit $89.23 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.44% or 2.26 to trade at $94.71 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.75% to 0.98, while USD/JPY rose 0.25% to 147.27.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.75% at 112.37.
