Nigeria imports N4.000.000.000 worth of diaper and sanitary kits yearly.

In July 2015, Hayat invested $100.000.000 to build a factory;plus 14MW electricity. The facility has been completed,and work has begun to produce 1.300. 000.000 units of diaper and 13,000 tons of tissue yearly.

Europe imports soybeans worth $14.2 from Nigeria, then go on to process it into oil and make thrice the money. In 2017, Alhaji Gerewa built a $50.000.000 processing plant in Kano, with a potential for export. Production has begun, 5,000 workers.

Glass and stones are some of the items Nigeria import for building. In 2017, the importing company, Rongsheng, decided to relocate their factory to Edo state by building a multi-billion naira facility for glass processing. Production has begun and jobs created.

In 2018, PMB was in Calabar to inaugurate this N3.000.000.000 rice seedling factory to boost Nigeria’s yields. Rice farmers already booked a N2.000.000.000 order, and Bayelsa/Abia/Delta states also bought theirs . India made $7.000.000.000 from rice and this factory has a potential of N14.000.000.000 revenue yearly.
Nigeria has a $3.700.000.000 groundnut market as the 3rd biggest producers in the world.

The Dantata family became billionaires from the sales to Europe. But Nigeria’s export was later banned,and today the UK has given new approvals with the first groundnut containers off to Europe again.
Africa spends billions importing medical kits from India.

After Jubilees, another firm HMA Medical,has set up a new plant in Nigeria that produces 200.000.000 syringes, 350.000.000 needles, surgical ( cotton wool, napkins and caps) materials. Nigeria can supply the continent’s demand with time.

Ikun Dairy Farm was established in 1980 with fattened cows on 1,000 hectares of land. Valued at N700.000.000 but left to rot away. The good news, however, is that last week, Anders Einarsson, MD, Promasidor signed a pact with Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi to develop and source milk for processing from the Farm.
This is in response to FG’s directive that dairy producing companies must source for their milk locally. It is called Backward Integration Initiative. Promasidor are the makers of Cowbell, Miksi etc.

Industrialization continues to pick up steam in Nigeria as Weewood Limited, completes its multibillion Plywood/HDF factory in Ondo. Federal Govt is ahead of schedule to inaugurate a 30MW Independent Power Plant that will supply stable electricity to the firm and others in Ore.

Banks in Nigeria spend billions importing bullion vans from Brazil. ProForce Nigeria is now reducing that import bill by manufacturing Bullion Vans for the CBN and major banks while operating out of their factory in Ogun state.

The Netherlands’ Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, H.E. Mrs. Sigrid Kaag has affirmed that given the consistent result FrieslandCampina WAMCO has recorded in local milk sourcing, Nigeria has the right partner to stimulate growth in the industry.

The Minister witnessed the signing of the partnership extension agreement on the Dairy Development Programme between FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria PLC, represented by Ben Langat, Managing Director, and International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC) represented by President and CEO, Albin Hubscher.
The aim of the agreement is to sustainably transform and lead the local dairy sector in Nigeria by supporting the transition of local dairy farming into modern dairy farming and developing key structures required for a sustainable value chain.
Nigeria and China have signed a deal to start manufacturing transformers in a N4.000.000.000 facility in Kogi. About 60 Nigerian engineers are being sent to China now to learn in their factories how transformers are made.

Abia state shoe markets has gotten international backing. The German Corporation Agency has announced plans to develop and link 5,000 Aba shoe businesses to international brands in Europe.

Seplat is changing that with a $700.000.000 investment into a gas processing plant. Federal Govt has supported the project in Imo state with $200.000.000.

Kofo Akinkugbe. She is founder & CEO of SecureID Nigaria limited. She’s a market leader in smart card technology and digital security. SecureID is a world-class manufacturing facility produce approximately 200.000.000 smart cards per year. And they export to other African nations.

A decade ago, Nigeria was importing 100% of aluminium cans for soft/hard drinks at a cost. GZI built a manufacturing plant to produce them locally. And in 2016, Nigeria has started exporting to South Africa, Cote de Voire, Republic of Benin. Production has hit 1.200.000.000 cans annually, with export in mind.

The Nigeria Armed Forces import their uniforms from Turkey and Pakistan. This has helped developed the textile industry of those countries at our expense. Federal Govt gave a directive to stop imports of military clothing, and The Air Force has taken steps for local production.
Chinese investors, led by Prof. Zhao Zhihai were in Nigeria yesterday to announce an Agro-processing investment that will replace US farmers with Nigerian Agro exporters. China is investing $16bn-$25bn into building processing facilities in Nigeria.
