Online retailer Takelot has revealed its big plans for Black Friday 2022, saying it will once again run its Blue Dot Sale – with a twist.
For the 2022 Black Friday sale, the group said it will run a live shopping event over Instagram, starting one minute after midnight on Black Friday (25 November 2022).
Speaking to MyBroadband, Takealot said that the live shopping event will be a ‘fastest fingers first’ affair, where big discounts will be available on the hour, every hour, for fifteen minutes.
A second live shopping event will happen on the final day of the Blue Dot Sale — called Takealot Day — on Tuesday, 29 November 2022.
More details on the live event and how it will work can be read here.
For the rest of the sales period, Takealot’s Black Friday deals will continue as they have in the past, with the retailer promising discounts on TVs, smart watches, beauty products, appliances, toys, sportswear and more.
Early Black Friday deals have launched
After two years of Covid-19 and lockdown, South African retailers are moving back to the one-day format of Black Fridays past.
However, several big names are blending the old with the new, running month-long deals in a ‘Black November’ style sale, with even bigger deals expected on the day.
Woolworths is following its Black Friday sales format from 2021, unveiling new discounts and deals with each passing week – while Incredible Connection and Hirsch’s have already launched the sales craze.
Other brands will be launching sales sooner than the 25th, with Vodacom promising up to 75% off in its sale launching on 4 November – while others will be extending their deals well into December to capitalise on the festive season shopping rush.
Online retailers are also expected to offer a number of specials on ‘Cyber Monday’, which falls on 28 November 2022.
