Eskom has announced that load shedding will continue this weekend as high levels of breakdowns and delays in returning some units back to services.
The national power utility said that load shedding should follow this procedure:
- Stage 1 load shedding will continue to be implemented daily at 05:00 – 16:00 until Sunday
- Stage 2 load shedding will also continue to be implemented daily at 16:00 – 05:00 until Monday
Eskom said it would publish a further update as soon as there are any significant changes.
“Since Thursday morning, a generating unit each at Camden, Duvha, Kusile, and Majuba power stations were taken offline for repairs. The delays in the return to service of a generating unit each at Majuba and Tukuta power stations have contributed to the generation capacity shortages.”
In some good news, the utility announced that a generating unit at Hendrina Power Station that was done is now back to service.
The national power utility is currently sitting with 4,836 MW on planned maintenance, while another 14,509 MW of capacity is unavailable due to breakdowns.
