Iran ready to offer mining help to Nigeria


TEHRAN – Iran has expressed its readiness to launch cooperation with Nigerian private firms in mining exploration and operationalization activities, the IRIB news agency quoted Iranian Industry, Mining, and Trade Minister Mohammadreza Ne’matzadeh as saying on Sunday.

Meeting Nigerian Minister of Mining and Industrial Development Omar Hamidou Tchiana, Nematzadeh said a capable private sector coupled with governmental organizations such as Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) and Geological Survey of Iran (GSI) will contribute to the advancement of bilateral cooperation.

Ne’matzadeh further stated that Iran aims at bilateral long-term and cost-effective economic activities between Iran and Nigeria, adding that this holds true for other African countries, as well.

Among other areas Iran can help Nigeria, Nematzadeh enlisted copper and gold mining, transfer of industrial technology, dairy industries, machineries manufacturing, production of constructional materials, plastic products, and water cooler.

It should be noted that Iran is ready to not only collaborate with Nigeria in the above-mentioned fields, but also to set up relevant factories and assembly lines in Nigeria, particularly Iran can erect and equip geology laboratories in Nigeria.

Besides, Tchiana, for his part, expressed thanks to Iran, while adding that bilateral ties between Iran and Nigeria are expanding.

The Nigerian minister, moreover, called for more cooperation of Iran with his country particularly in the fields of geology, industry, and mining.
